The black clouds came rolling in just as we got to the pool... Luckily we got home right before the skies opened up and the torrential downpour started!

Nothing puts a damper on a weekend at the beach than a weekend full of rain. We had a trip to Ocean City, MD, planned months in advance to celebrate my friend Leela's upcoming wedding. Too bad that after all those insanely hot days we have been having this summer, the one weekend we plan to go to the beach it rains. But we still made sure that the bride-to-bed had a great time!

It has been brutally hot lately, and it was close to 100F when I got home from work today. Makes it difficult to do any outdoor physical activities...

Our friends invited us out to a winery tour in Western Maryland. We got a brief tour of the winery followed by a private wine tasting in a tent behind the vinyards. Good thing we were under a tent in the shade because it was a hot day! We spent the rest of the afternoon with a few chilled bottles, enjoying the sun setting behind the winery. I had taken a few photos of the winery and the wine tasting, but thought this one of our friend, Keith, with a butterfly catcher [have no clue who brought this!] was more fun.

A hot and sunny Friday afternoon. Before heading out for the night, I snapped a picture of the sun shining behind a flower busy in my backyard. You can almost feel the hot sun... :-)

Finally starting to get caught up with my backlog of photos.... Since we have finally recovered from being away on vacation, we were able to get some things done around the house. With the change in seasons, I planted some new flowers on our back porch. This was definitely one of my favorites.

After an insanely busy weekend, we finally got a chance to do a little relaxing on the Memorial Day holiday. And what else spells the beginning of summer better than a dip in the pool and a good book to read!

While I was running some errands in Target, I decided to stroll by the shoe section (yes, one of my many addictions) and AAAAAAH!!! Flip flops! Right near the bathing suits.... UGH. Seriously, it is freakin' freezing outside, Valentine's Day isn't even here yet, but as fast as the Christmas decorations come down, the bathing suits and flip flops come out. Way too early for me to being see this. Although I will admit I was energized by the bright summery colors, hence the picture here. I did a bit of editing to make the background B&W and bring out the vibrant colors, and in the process learned a bit more about some features of my photo editing software. But seriously.... way too early for these to be in the store.
