Today was my Dad's Birthday! We also celebrated an early Mother's Day today with both my parents and my in-laws since my husband and I will be on vacation for the official Mother's Day. While we made sure to honor the mother's, the cake had to still revolve around the birthday guy! Since my Dad is an avid bowler, I thought it would be fun to make this cake for him. While he doesn't go down the lane like this poor guy, he has had his share of falls on those newly slicked lanes! But the cake was still cute and everyone loved the humorous side of it. Not to mention that it tasted good..... :-P

There was a massive approaching snowstorm last night, and sadly another February birthday party was scheduled for our friend, Sean. Since we have an SUV with 4-wheel drive, we went ahead and ventured out to the party for a few hours to have some fun before getting snowed in the rest of the weekend! Ironically, the party was supposed to be a Hawaiian-themed party. I couldn't muster up the courage to wear my warm-weather "Hawaiian" clothes, but both my husband and the birthday boy came dressed in their island-finest! Despite the snow, we all had a great time. I'm one day behind on my posts... not bad, but need to make sure I don't fall behind! Last night we went to my in-laws house for a belated celebration of my husband's birthday. There was dinner, and of course, cake! I just can't believe that my mother-in-law (a) fit all those candles on that poor little cake and (b) that it didn't set off the smoke detector!
